Become a Trustee

Leeds33 is looking for new Trustees to join our Board and support the organisation as it continues to grow and develop.

We are keen to hear from people who are excited by youth voice, culture and place, and who want to help shape the direction of a values-led organisation working with young people across Leeds. You don’t need to have been a trustee before; we are interested in people who bring curiosity, care, and a willingness to contribute.

What being a Trustee involves

Trustees work collectively to provide strategic oversight, good governance, and support to the staff team. The role is not operational and does not involve day-to-day delivery.

We are particularly interested in people with knowledge, insight, or lived experience connected to:

  • Finance (including budgeting, financial oversight, or audit)
  • Fundraising and income generation (including trusts, foundations, partnerships, or philanthropy)
  • HR and people development (including employment law, organisational culture, or wellbeing)
  • Governance (including charity law, board experience, or policy)
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) (including lived experience, strategy, or embedding inclusive practice)

Alongside these skills, we welcome insight connected to:

  • Education and schools
  • Young people, participation, or youth voice
  • Community and neighbourhood work
  • Culture, creativity, or the arts

We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of Leeds. We strongly encourage interest from people who are underrepresented in charity
governance, including people from Black, Asian and global ethnic communities, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, people from workingclass backgrounds, and young adults.

You do not need previous trustee experience to apply – support and induction will be provided. What matters most is your commitment to our values, willingness to learn, and desire to contribute to positive change in Leeds.

Leeds33 provide training and development for trustees, as well as opportunities to take your trusteeship to the next stage.

How to get involved

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee or would like to find out more, we would love to start with an informal conversation.

Please email [email protected] with a short introduction about yourself and why you’re interested and we will be in touch to arrange a chat. No CV is needed at this stage.

Advisory Board

Comprising of 12 members, the Advisory Board draws on expertise from the cultural sector, education sector, community, local authority and creative industries. We try and ensure there is diverse representation to reflect the communities of Leeds and that specialist knowledge and experience across the sectors is brought into our work. Our Advisory Board meets once every quarter.

If you are interested in joining the Advisory Board, please send an email to [email protected]
